It's a Chair-Affair!

Gallery on the Square Decade Celebration

What is a “Chair-affair”? It is the way the Gallery on the Square is celebrating its ten great years as a destination location on the Danville town square. The Gallery is the place to find one-of-a-kind hand-crafted creations that make great gifts and additions to your home décor.

There is no place else remotely close-by where you can find the variety and quality of work found here: paintings, pastels, photography, jewelry, wood, glass, ceramics, fabric, and sculpture. And to bring out the creativity in you: classes and workshops, plus a fun “paint ‘n Sip” twice a month.

So, where do the chairs come into play? Trying to decide on how to celebrate ten years on the Square, many ideas were tossed around, and as the group sat in chairs around the big table discussing them, someone came up with, “we do have some extra chairs, why not paint them and sell them to put some money in our lighting fund.” And A CHAIR AFFAIR was born. After all, who doesn’t have a favorite chair?

Our artists have found old chairs, and reinvented them. Stephen King’s is almost eerie, but so clever with the bare tree branches on it; Marti McCoy made a child’s chair that is in the shape of a frog, with a book she illustrated attached to it… and speaking of attachments, have you ever seen a chair with its own hairbrush? Linda Gilbert created that one. Joanie Kisner has a pair of bar stools with a turtle theme: 3D turtles are running up/down the legs and the seats have painted turtles in unusual colors.

All of the Gallery artists are creating a chair, so there will be many to see, and many to place a bid on, as the silent auction will run through the month…or “buy now”….yes, you can do that, if you know it has to be yours. The Chair Affair begins 10/1, and runs through the month. You can stop in any time to view and bid. Also, the Gallery will have 10% off all items during the month: 10 years, 10% off, except for 10/10 when we will offer 20% off for the day, and have refreshments out, plus be open until 8:30.

Please stop by, see the chairs, place a bid, and look around at all the Gallery has to offer. And don’t forget the discounts for the month of October. It is never too early to start your Holiday shopping.
