Unique Handmade Birdhouses

Steve makes all of the birdhouses in his garage in Hendricks County.  Steve attends some local shows throughout the year.  Steve started as a Holiday Artist at the Gallery on the Square.  After the holidays were over the gallery extended an invitation for him to stay and become a Member Artist at the gallery.

Besides the birdhouses that you'll find at the gallery, you can also order a handmade birdhouse of your liking.  If you would like more information on ordering a birdhouse, click the button and send Steve an email.  You could also contact the gallery and leave a detailed message for Steve.

Birdhouse Care

  • Your birdhouse is primarily made of wood, which will expand and contract with the weather.

  • Nature will eventually remove any paint and decorations over time.  However, you can make your birdhouse last by maintaining it.

  • Take it inside at the end of August.  Clean out the inside and spray the exterior with clear acrylic sealer, or clear enamel with UV protection.

  • Place your birdhouse outside, preferably facing East with the least wind exposure.  (About the end of March) when birds are nesting.

  • Place the birdhouse at least head height.  To attract birds, add a feeder and water source in the area.

  • Place a lemon peel inside to repel bird mites.  They are like fleas that will invade and irritate birds!

  • When you bring them in use clear acrylic spray or clear enamel with UV protection to help keep the finish from yellowing and fading the colors.

  • Gloss Krylon UV-Resistant Clear sealer.

  • Rust-OLeum Painters touch 2X Ultra Cover Gloss Clear
