Price: $5

We couldn't leave these fun stocking stuffers off our list this year. Local artist Jess Beauchamp makes several different bath bombs that she sells at Gallery on the Square. But the ones that really caught our eye were in the shape of Stanley cups that would be perfect for the tweens on your list.

Location: Gallery on the Square in Danville
Price: $55 - $85

It is so easy to find great gifts at Gallery on the Square every year, but this year we decided to mix it up by highlighting the experiences they offer there. Silk painting and wood burning are just two examples, but we would suggest going in to see everything they have to offer and purchasing a gift certificate for a loved one who loves DIY. No experience is necessary, and the artists who lead the classes do an amazing job. You can also purchase gift certificates at Gallery on the Square that can be used for classes or to purchase handmade items inside the store.

Silk Painting Artist * Susan Fox

Susan is attended the bi-annual Silk Painters International (SPIN) Festival held the first week of October at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg TN. She attended several classes on new or evolving techniques, and also taught a 3-hr mini class, 'Purely Marker - Exploring Gutta-Free Silk Painting'. This is the same Marker Resist class I teach at GOTS.  Although the marker technique as resist has been around for a long time, most silk artists have never heard of it, and instead use messy gutta which is either hot melted wax or cold liquid wax, using a special tool to apply.

I had a great watercolor class last Saturday, June 22, at the Covered Bridge Art Gallery in Rockville, IN. We spent the day learning the basics of watercolor painting, drawing and composition. Each person worked on their own painting which were amazing.

Congratulations to Becky Crosbie

Becky Crosbie has one of her pottery pieces displayed in the Gallery at Arts Illiana's annual small art exhibition.  The exhibit is open through January 12, 2024.

The small art exhibition is open only to artists living in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties in Indiana and Edgar and Clarke counties in Illinois.

The “small” aspect of the art is the requirement that all works entered in the show must measure no more than 12” by 12” (or 12” x 12” x 12” for the 3D pieces.)

Guest jurors Michael and Susan Tingley selected the work of 33 artists to be included in the exhibition. The small art exhibition is always a favorite of patrons and an opportunity to purchase original and unique holiday gifts. All work in the exhibition is for sale.

Arts Illiana is located at 23 North Sixth Street in Terre Haute. Arts Illiana is the Arts Council of the Wabash Valley and a Regional Arts Partner with the Indiana Arts Commission.
